Get on board for the Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association's anniversary dinner!
On 17 August the TFGA will celebrate 70 years of fighting for Tasmanian farmers with a special dinner at Country Club Tasmania, Launceston.
A faded piece of paper on the wall of TFGA House in Launceston recognises 18 August 1948, as the day that the Tasmanian Farmers Federation (TFF), these days known as the TFGA, became incorporated under the Companies Act. The TFF was formed by the amalgamation of the Tasmanian Primary Producers Organisation and the Tasmanian Primary Producers Union. The organisation then became known as the Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association in 1980 when it merged with the Tasmanian Farmers, Stockowners and Orchardists Association.
We think it is time to commemorate how far we and the agricultural sector have come. Join us for an evening that will celebrate everything that is good about agriculture – the innovation, the resourcefulness, the sense of pride – and help us honour some of the key pillars of the farming community that have helped make the TFGA the strong and vibrant organisation that it is today.
This year's guest speaker is Australian author and communicator Julian Cribb. Julian's career includes appointments as editor of National Farmer newspaper, scientific editor for The Australian newspaper, director of national awareness for CSIRO, member of numerous scientific boards and advisory panels, and president of national professional bodies for agricultural journalism and science communication.
