Red Meat Industry

The Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association today welcomed the announcement by the Minister for Agriculture the Hon Guy Barnett that the Government will accept all 26 findings and recommendations of the Red Meat working group, including supporting Tasmanian based processing and ongoing investment in biosecurity and industry marketing and development. 
''This is another positive step for the Red Meat industry in Tasmania and the acceptance of the working group's recommendations and the commitment of the Minister and the broader Government is to be commended'' said TFGA CEO, Peter Skillern.
''The implementation of these recommendations coupled with commitments from the Government to pastures and livestock productivity will ensure the future of the Red Meat industry in Tasmania, the TFGA would like to thank the members of the working group and the Minister for their commitment to this critical issue in the Agricultural sector'' Mr Skillern said.
