Quad Bike Changes

11 October 2019

The TFGA applauds the Federal Government announcement of mandatory operator protection devices for all general-use model quad bikes sold in Australia.
The changes come after years of campaigning from various associations and groups, with the new changes recommended by an ACCC report which also found that on average in Australia quad bike are associated with sixteen fatalities per year and six emergency department presentations per day, of which two people are being hospitalised for serious injuries.
TFGA CEO Peter Skillern said this announcement has been a long time coming after we have been continuously advocating for change. The TFGA will continue to work with Safe Farming Tasmania to promote the importance of safety on farms and to assist farmers to protect their families and workers.
