Fruit fly Pest Free Area announcement

The Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association (TFGA) welcomes the announcement by Minister Barnett of the lifting of restrictions on mainland Tasmania of the Queensland Fruit Fly control area.
“It is very pleasing to see these restrictions lifted as no further new discoveries have been made of fruit fly in the northern control area”, TFGA CEO Peter Skillern said.
Fruit growers in Tasmania can now return to doing to what they do best, and that is growing premium fruit for domestic and international consumption.
We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to all those that have worked so hard in eradicating this invasive pest.
