National Issues
TFGA Wool Council is a financial member of,
and has a representative on, the peak national body WoolProducers.
WoolProducers is the peak national representative body for
Australian woolgrowers. WoolProducers represent over 15,000
wool producers from across Australia and aims to provide a
strong, unified voice that enables wool producers to address
issues that effect their business and drive change in their
industry. The key purpose of WoolProducers is to deliver outcomes
to members that contribute to their wool business profit and
social wellbeing.
The Australian Wool Innovation Limited (AWI) is a fully independent
public company limited by shares and is owned by Australian
woolgrowers. Its mission is to drive research, development
and innovation that will increase the long-term profitability
of Australian woolgrowers. AWI initiates, commissions and
delivers research and development (R&D) to Australian
woolgrowers. Its primary aim is the adoption of technology
- on farm and along the global wool pipeline. TFGA Wool Council
reviews the current and planned activities of the AWI on a
regular basis to ensure appropriate outcomes are being achieved
for Tasmanian wool growers.
