The Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association Cereals and Seeds Committee is supportive of TPI Enterprises becoming the third poppy processor in the State if there will be an increase in the amount of hectares of poppies grown in Tasmania.
TFGA Cereals and Seeds Committee Chairman Bevan Badcock said anything that can assist farmers with their crop rotation is something that we will always support.
Mr Badock said if TPI Enterprises can increase the amount of poppies grown in Tasmania more growers would be able to utilise a cash crop with great income potential but also compliment their current grain rotation.
At the moment TFGA Cereals and Seeds Committee perceives TPI Enterprises as a positive initiative for the growers of Tasmania giving them another crop option for their enterprise mix.
Ends.
