Contestable customers see advantage of contracting with Aurora
With the introduction of competition into the Tasmanian electricity retail industry, Tranche 4 contestable businesses (those that spend over $25,000 per year on a single installation) can now choose their electricity provider.
These businesses have until 1 July 2010 to enter into a contract for their electricity supply. Because prices within the national electricity market fluctuate, contract prices change from week to week. Right now many businesses are seeing a decrease in electricity costs when they enter a contract compared to their tariff.
"Some of our Tasmanian farming customers are taking advantage of the currently attractive electricity prices and signing contracts now," said Roger Drummond, Aurora Business Sales Manager.
While the transition from tariff to contract may seem like a hassle for busy farmers, the currently appealing contract prices means changing now is proving worthwhile.
"We will be calling customers that are better off on contract than tariff in the next month or so to offer them a contract price," said Mr Drummond, “In the meantime we encourage customers wanting to lock into a contract now to call us, as prices can rise at any time”.
Aurora offers contracts ranging from one to three years. To talk about contracts or request a quote call sales officers Todd (03 6237 3508) or Sally (03 6208 7875).
Anyone who is unsure if their business is contestable can call Aurora on 1300 13 2045 and they will check for you.
