Oldfield seeks new horizons

The chief executive of the Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association Chris Oldfield is to leave that position at the end of April, having decided not to seek a renewal of his contract.

TFGA president David Gatenby today confirmed Mr Oldfield had notified him of his decision last month and today he had formally notified the board, which had reluctantly received his resignation.

“Chris has decided that, after three years, it is time to move on and to resume his public relations and media consultancy business in Tasmania and Victoria,” Mr Gatenby said.

“While I am very disappointed he won’t be continuing his outstanding work representing Tasmanian farmers so ably and eloquently, and I tried to talk him out of it, I do understand his decision.

The TFGA will be advertising for a new CEO.  While Mr Oldfield’s contract expires at the end of March, he will be staying on until the end of April.

“Chris has bought a strong level of professionalism to the job,” Mr Gatenby said. “Chris has lifted the TFGA’s profile to a new level. He will be sorely missed.”
