Grasslands

Published: 29/06/2009

The Australian Government recently announced that it was listing the lowland native grasslands of Tasmanian as critically endangered on the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act.

This listing affects 21, 600 hectares of land predominantly in the Midlands area.

The TFGA strongly believes that the listing of the grasslands will not lead to long-term conservation of the grasslands and is a major slap in the face to Tasmanian farmers who have effectively managed these grasslands for generations.
