AGFEST 2010

The gates at Quercus Park are set to be thrown open
for Agfest 2010 on May 6, 7 & 8.

Agfest continues to be of Tasmania’s premier events, with thousands of Tasmanians and national visitors converging on Rural Youth’s Quercus Park, near Launceston, to take in the fun and excitement that is Agfest!

The theme for this year coincides with the TFGA’s 2010 biennial conference to be held in July: the Food Bowl.

This year at its site the TFGA will be hosting its major sponsor Finance Brokers of Tasmania (Where Smart People go for Loans) and preferred insurer, WFI (Good People to Know).   The TFGA site will also host Viterra, NRM North, TFGA Weeds Committee, the Proactive Agricultural Safety Society (PASS) and the Irrigation Development Board.  It will host Woolworths, the Fresh Food People, in keeping with our Food Bowl theme.

It will be giving away Fresh Food kids’ bags to encourage children to eat their fruit and veggies.

Also around the TFGA site will be life-size vegetables!

So come and visit us! We are located at 506 in Fifth Avenue – looking forward to seeing you there!!

'Tasmania as Country's Food Bowl: Fact or Pipedream?'

The Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association (TFGA) is the State’s peak agricultural body, representing the interests of those who work on the land.

It represents 3100 agricultural enterprises, one in five jobs in Tasmania.

They contribute about $1 billion a year to the Tasmanian economy. That is about 16% of gross state product.

Because our members are farmers from across all segments of the industry (and most of our board members are farmers), we are well positioned to represent the interests of the agricultural sector. The TFGA represents big and small farms. We make no distinction. We believe it is vital that all farmers in Tasmania are members of the TFGA so that we are able to speak with one voice when we deal with governments at all levels and with other industry bodies.

We exist to make a difference and we can only do this by standing and working together. Tasmanian farms must operate in a positive business environment. That is our main mission.

We have close links with other state farming organisations as well as:

Tasmania’s voice is heard at national and international level through these industry affiliations.

We have alliances with a number of sponsors and business partners, who support the association. They include:

Please contact the TFGA office on 6332 1800 for more details on membership opportunities
