CPRS not the answer for agriculture
The Australian Government is proposing to implement a cap-and-trade emissions trading scheme to reduce Australia’s emissions of greenhouse gasses. This scheme is called the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme (CPRS). Although agriculture will not be included in the scheme until at least 2015, there is consensus within the agricultural sector that the CPRS is an inappropriate policy mechanism for agriculture. This is a highly complex matter. The following links will provide some information to assist with an understanding of the issues.
